Pika

The platform is built around creative effects called Pikaffects, a library of transformations that apply physical and visual effects to subjects in videos, including melt, explode, inflate, and other dynamic modifications.

These effects differentiate Pika from straightforward text-to-video generators by enabling stylized, physically dramatic transformations that are difficult to achieve through standard video editing.

The platform supports three input modes: text-to-video generates video from a written description, image-to-video animates a static image into motion, and video-to-video applies transformations and modifications to existing video clips.

This flexibility means Pika serves both users starting from scratch with a concept and users who have source material they want to transform. The generation process produces videos up to ten seconds long at resolutions up to 1080p.

Pika 2.5 is the current generation model, available across all plan tiers. The platform has expanded into real-time video with PikaStream 1.0, which enables AI agents to present with a live video face, voice, and presence in video meetings through a rendered avatar.

This extends Pika's use case from content creation into AI agent interfaces for live presentations and meetings, where a synthesized persona with cloned or custom voice can represent an AI system in video calls.

The Pikaffects library includes Pikadditions (adding elements to scenes), Pikaswaps (swapping objects or backgrounds), and Pikatwists (stylistic transformations), each providing categories of creative modification for videos. These tools are accessible across free and paid plans, making the creative effect library available to users evaluating the platform before committing to a subscription.
