Hunyuan 3D

Since its initial release in late 2024, the platform has surpassed three million community downloads on Hugging Face, establishing itself as one of the most widely adopted open-source 3D generation models in the world.

The platform's combination of geometric precision, texture fidelity, and generation speed addresses a longstanding gap between AI capabilities and professional 3D production requirements.

The system is built on two complementary foundation models: Hunyuan3D-DiT, a large-scale shape generation model that produces accurate 3D geometry from multimodal inputs, and Hunyuan3D-Paint, a texture synthesis model that applies photorealistic surface materials to the generated geometry.

This two-stage architecture separates shape and texture generation, allowing each component to be optimized independently and enabling production-ready physically-based rendering (PBR) material output.

The platform has undergone rapid iteration since its launch. Hunyuan 3D 2.5, released in April 2025, scaled the model from 1 billion to 10 billion parameters and increased geometric resolution to 1024, delivering substantially more detailed meshes with improved accuracy for hands, faces, and complex surface features.

Hunyuan 3D 3.0, released in September 2025, pushed further to 1536³ resolution with 3.6 billion voxels, achieving three times the modeling precision of its predecessor and eliminating common AI artifacts like floating geometry and mismatched textures.

The range of supported input modalities makes Hunyuan 3D highly flexible for different production workflows. Artists can generate 3D models from a text prompt alone, from a reference photograph, or from a rough sketchwhatever starting point best matches their creative process.
