Rather than manually drawing tables, defining relationships, and configuring data types, users describe their data model, user stories, or system requirements in plain text and ERBuilder's AI powered by OpenAI GPT automatically generates a structured ERD that maps those requirements into a diagram ready for review and refinement.

The AI generation workflow supports two primary use cases: creating a new ER diagram from scratch by entering a natural language description, and updating an existing data model by feeding in new requirements.

In the update scenario, the AI analyzes the current model and the new input together, suggesting specific modifications to the existing ERD to align it with the changed requirements without discarding prior work.
