Qodo (Formerly Codium)

Originally launched as a test generation tool, Qodo has expanded into a comprehensive code quality platform that integrates into the development workflow at multiple stages from initial coding through pull request review.

Qodo's test generation engine is among the most advanced in the industry: it analyzes code behavior at a deep level, identifies untested logic paths and edge cases, and generates complete unit tests with meaningful assertions rather than superficial coverage padding.

The tests are designed to catch real bugs, not just inflate coverage metrics, making them genuinely useful for catching regressions and verifying business logic.

The 2026 Qodo 2.0 release introduced a multi-agent architecture replacing single-pass AI review: specialized agents work in parallel one focused on bug detection, another on code quality best practices, a third on security vulnerabilities, and a fourth on test coverage gaps.

This parallel architecture achieved the highest F1 score (60.1%) among leading AI code review tools in independent benchmark testing, outperforming the next best tool by 9%.

Qodo's intelligent Rules System gives teams persistent, codified review standards that survive across sessions. Rather than AI reviewers repeatedly surfacing the same non-issues or missing the same project-specific patterns, teams can define rules from prior review discussions and Qodo applies them consistently reducing review noise and ensuring team conventions are enforced automatically.

Qodo is available as a Visual Studio Code extension and through other IDE integrations. The free tier provides up to 250 credits per month.
